SELECT & EDL DEV U5-U12
2025-26 SELECT/EDL Team Formation
U8,U9 & U10 SELECT/EDL Teams will be formed following a Identification events that are scheduled for May 3-7. If you are unable to attend the ID event near you, and would like to be considered, please contact Kevin Carmichael. U7 & U8 aged players may attend the assessment or sign up for the Intro to EDL (EDL-DEV) program during REC registration.
Players will attend ID events at Gulfport Sportsplex & Ocean Springs. Teams will be formed with regional geography as a priority with six boys and six girls teams per age group as the target for the 2025-26 program.
EDL teams are coached by paid SMSC staff coaches, practice 2-3x per week and have a Fall and Spring season. Travel is generally within an hour for match play with no over night stays expected. This is an optimal developmental experience for a young player wishing to grow their game.
ALL PLAYERS THAT TRY OUT WILL BE PLACED IN THE EDL/IEDL TEAM DEVELOPMENT STREAM.

EDL Developmental Program Info U5-U12
SMSC will be offering a U5,U6,U7,U8,U10 and U12 EDL Developmental program for Boys and Girls in the 2025-26 season. This program will be an open enrollment program that begins October 1st and runs until mid March. Teams will train 2x per week under the guidance of SMSC staff and identified team coaches and will play games locally and incorporated into the REC league. Teams will be formed in the same manner as EDL teams with an assigned Coach and Manager.
